May 2026 Honoree
Chanise Garvin-Dumay, MS, BSN, RN, COHN-S
I am writing to nominate Chanise Garvin-Dumay for the DAISY Award because she is the definition of an extraordinary nurse. As our Occupational Health Nurse and Supervisor of the Technicians and Front Desk staff, she consistently demonstrates clinical excellence, compassionate leadership, and an unwavering commitment to both our patients and our team, especially during this extremely short-staffed period. Chanise possesses a wealth of knowledge that makes her the go-to person for everyone in our clinic.
Board-certified in Occupational Health Nursing and holding a Master's Degree in Nursing, she brings expert clinical judgment to every situation. Whether it's reviewing complex medical records, guiding techs through difficult cases, assisting nurses with assessments, or supporting front desk staff with challenging patient inquiries, she steps in without hesitation. When we are short-staffed, she is often the first to arrive early and the last to leave late, ensuring that the work gets done and that patient care never suffers.
What truly sets Chanise apart is how she goes above and beyond for our patients. Many of them specifically ask for her by name because they know she will take the extra time to understand their medical conditions and gather the detailed information our occupational health physicians need for accurate health clearances. Her thoroughness and advocacy help patients navigate what can be a stressful process with clarity and confidence. She treats every interaction with genuine care and respect, turning routine occupational health visits into opportunities to make a real difference in people's lives.
Beyond her clinical expertise, Chanise is an outstanding leader and mentor. She leads by example, lifts up her team, and creates a supportive environment even under pressure. Her calm presence, willingness to teach, and dedication to developing others have made her an invaluable role model for everyone in our department. In every way, she demonstrates her knowledge, work ethic, compassion, and leadership. Chanise embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award. She is the heart of our occupational health team, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her. I wholeheartedly recommend her for this well-deserved honor.
