Chansey Ten goes above and beyond the call of duty for her patients every day, but one caring gesture in particular truly highlights her devotion to her patients. Chansey was caring for a patient who had been in the hospital for over a month and had several trips to rehab and other acute care facilities. He was missing time at home with his family and was disappointed he could not celebrate his fiance's birthday with her. He really wanted to do something special for his fiance and Chansey made it happen.

After a night shift, Chansey purchased a cake, card, balloon, and flowers for the patient to surprise his fiance with. He was so excited and grateful, tearing up at Chansey's thoughtfulness. When the fiance arrived later that day, she was shocked to receive a birthday card and gift from him. Chansey not only did something special for her patient, but she also wanted to help him pass along this thoughtfulness to his family. Her act of kindness helped this patient remain involved in his family life even while hospitalized. This is just one example of Chansey's loving nature and selflessness.
