Unfortunately, we had an eventful stay with the birth of our son. My wife was septic after her c-section and epidural placement, and our son also ended up in the NICU/TCN. This nurse, Chante, took care of us from the first night we arrived after the c-section and for two more nights afterward. We were there for a week, and her care was, without a doubt, the best we received.
She came on the floor the night my wife went septic and had a high fever along with other symptoms, and as soon as she got there, she rushed over to me as I was in the hall and panicking because we didn't know what was going on. She was supportive in her care of my wife, and she also did her best to care for me. She was phenomenal, and we were brokenhearted to be without her for the remainder of our week's stay. She was so gentle and caring, and made sure we were taken care of and listened to all our needs and worries.
She supported us with help getting to the NICU, as my wife couldn't walk after her c-section and subsequent infection. She was a delight during a very rough stay in the hospital, and I have told everyone about her that we have talked to about our stay there when our son was born. She went above and beyond in every way, and we will forever be thankful she was our nurse and that we had her in our corner!
I have never witnessed a more caring nurse throughout working in healthcare at Duke and UNC, and also as a patient - she is a star. She is the most organized nurse I have ever seen, as well, never forgetting things and staying on top of medications and tasks with us. She made us feel like we were the only patients she had, and like we had a family member there taking care of my wife.
