March 2024 Honoree
Chantel Evans, BSN, RN
Chantel Evans was assigned to a patient diagnosed with terminal illness with a poor prognosis. She developed a rapport with the patient and patient’s granddaughter. During her shift she had learned that the granddaughter was pregnant. The granddaughter expressed that she knew her grandmother would not be able to see her baby once he/she was born. Chantel went the extra mile and called the OB department to ask if a team member would be willing to come over with a heart doppler for the patient to hear the heartbeat of the unborn child. This small action made a big impact on the patient and family. At the end of her shift on a Friday afternoon, Chantel went back to see the patient and say goodbye, knowing that she was not scheduled to work the weekend.
Thank you, Chantel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
