Chantel Walker, RN

Chantel consistently advocates for the best care for her patients, and this is evident in a case involving a child where she was their primary nurse. A child with significant health issues presented to the ED with nausea, vomiting, and extensive headache. This nurse advocated for the child's plan of care and workup during her visit. Chantel reviewed multiple options with the parents for seeking advanced care which included a referral to a pediatric ER. Her educational discussion with the parents and support prompted them to seek advanced care in a specialty setting. The patient was treated and found to have a brain hemorrhage requiring immediate treatment. Without Chantel's advocacy and discussions with the parents, the patient's outcome may have been much different.
