During a very difficult and busy night in PICU with multiple admissions, transfers, and escalations, Chapel made herself available to help the unit out, even though there weren't ECMO patients. There was specifically one end-of-life patient who had a lot of family present, and Chapel found toys for the toddlers who were too young to understand what was going on. She was supportive of the family as the patient passed away, and even helped with post-mortem care, including the mold casting of the hands and feet. Chapel has always been a nurse whose genuine compassion is evident, but it really shone through that night. She could have easily busied herself with anything else, but she chose to go above and beyond to be present during someone's darkest moment.
