One of the most difficult things that healthcare workers are faced with is when a loved one receives a serious medical diagnosis. Our latest DAISY Honoree, Charita Stephenson, RN, was nominated by a coworker and member of our Franciscan family whose mother became a patient on AICU. Charita demonstrated the caring behaviors that define Franciscan nursing as she provided explanations, excellent and compassionate clinical care, and emotional support to the family during this very scary time. Charita built trust and rapport with the family so that the patient's daughter was able "to be a daughter instead of Mom's nurse."
