Charito saw a patient in need and stepped up to the plate to fill that need.

Chat is truly an all-star; she goes above and beyond when caring for her patients. Chat is our BMT Transplant Coordinator so she looks after all Bone Marrow Transplant patients that are going through or will go through a transplant.

We have a patient who recently went through a transplant. After a lengthy stay in the hospital she was finally discharged to the Hope Lodge. The patient and her family are from El Paso, so her family returned to El Paso while the patient stayed behind for continued treatment. Chat was talking to her one day when she discovered that the patient didn't have any groceries or transportation to go get them. Chat got a grocery list from the patient and after work went to the store, bought her the things she needed to eat for the next few days and brought them back to the patient. This same patient is also very forgetful. Chat calls her every week to remind her about her BMT clinic appointments.

These types of things are not unusual for Chat. It doesn't matter that they are not in her job description; she does these things because she wants to make sure her patients are taken care of!

This is a great example of how Chat demonstrated compassion, kindness and dedication to her profession. This self-less act is just one way Chat goes above and beyond for her patients and their families every day. Thank you Chat for providing our patients with excellent care!
