April 2016 Honoree
charity cochran, RN
My daughter and I spent three nights in the PICU at WCH. My daughter had the same nurse each night, Charity Cochran. The first night I was so tired, but I noticed my daughter's constant care by her nurse. Once, she stuck her head in the door and with her flashlight took a quick look while taking care of other duties. My daughter's Foley catheter fell out. Charity advocated for her to use the bedpan which she had done successfully several times. To no avail at 2 am, she meticulously carried out orders to reinsert the Foley. The next two nights the proficient care continued. Daily she challenged my daughter to gain new heights in motion and strength. My daughter's speedy recovery from a major surgery was due in part to the knowledge and direction of this one nurse. My family is truly grateful for Charity Cochran's care.
Thank you, Charity, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
