July 2026 Honoree
Charity Gbede, RN
Charity had such a compassionate and caring approach in preparing me for an EUS procedure. Charity was a great listener who understood my concerns and planned for them ahead of my arrival, requesting the IV Access RN for my tricky veins. Charity was understanding of my dread of being weighed and was gentle and kind about how I felt.
Most importantly, the calm nurse's demeanor rubbed off on me. While I was anxious, Charity made me feel much less so because of the many attentive ways Charity tended to me.
I enjoyed speaking with Charity about Ghana and their experience in Wisconsin in the year that they have been here. On one of the coldest days of our winter, Charity brought warmth, light, and lived up to her lovely name.
I hope you will recognize Charity for her professional and compassionate care and the very human connection Charity made when I was vulnerable and nervous. I am beyond grateful the universe connected us yesterday in the APC at UWHC.
