Coming in for my scheduled induction as a first-time mom was pretty intimidating. After staying the first night it was time to start Pitocin in the morning. I met a nurse that morning that I will never forget, Charity. From the start I could feel how much she cared about my baby and I. Early on complications started to arise as my baby’s heart rate started decreasing with several contractions. Charity was there the whole-time repositioning, answering all my questions and most importantly assuring me with her presence and calm demeanor. Being a nurse myself, I know when more people start entering the room and looking at the monitors that things aren’t going well. That’s exactly what was happening, and I was put in the position of needing a c-section right away. I was disappointed and scared. Charity took a brief moment to help me overcome the fear and rush me to the OR. When our little girl was born, and we finally heard her first cry, I knew I had made the right choice in choosing this hospital and Doctor. Seeing Charity and my husband cry with joy will forever be engrained in my memory and be a bright moment in an otherwise frightening situation. I hope all the staff know how special they are and thankful my family is for taking care of me and my little girl.
