April 2024 Honoree
Charla McWilliams, RN
Well Charla has done it again: She assumed care of a young man who needed to board with us overnight due to no availability throughout the hospital. This young man did not have his phone with him or any entertainment device, so she opted on her own to take him to preop where a TV was available, and watch him overnight. She made his stay tolerable, and he was deeply appreciative of her caring. The next night, we went for a walk to Starbucks, and she spotted an elderly gentleman who was really struggling with his walker to get where he was going. He happened to be in the Tahoe Tower for surgery. She made sure a wheelchair was brought and took him to the surgery desk as we carried his walker and belongings. This little man was so thankful to her. He expressed how helpful it was to him and said it would have taken him forever to get there without her help. The lengths that Charla goes to ensure patient’s comfort and safety is unprecedented in my 35 years of experience.
Thank you, Charla, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
