Charlene's late patient nominated her for a DAISY Award to thank her for her care:
I have end stage lung cancer. I was in the hospital for 170 days this past year. I received wonderful care by the nursing staff. However, Charlene Callahan, was able to reach deep inside my spirit and understand my inner most needs. She had such compassion and insight. She is an extraordinary nurse and my angel. My family was out of state when I was faced with frightening complications. I needed help and as a proud man who was always able to care for myself, I had to reach out. My condition was fragile and Charlene put me at ease and comforted me with her words and actions. I will be eternally grateful for her care.
