My mother was a patient on this unit after a pulmonary embolism as a result of a 4 minute cardiac arrest that left her extremely weak and debilitated. She had not eaten for days and was given a Peg and was traumatized from all of the above. The nurse that cared for her on this unit, Charlene Guinn, was extraordinary in her care for my mother and her patience in explaining to me the reasons that each of the medications was needed and why each procedure had to be done. She was extremely conscientious and polite when treating my mother and coordinating with other therapists and doctors. My mother recovered quickly due not only to the staff who worked together seamlessly but also to the skillful nursing care she received from Nurse Guinn.
