Charlene Latham was nominated by 2 fellow nurses for showing what a knowledgeable and caring individual she is, not only to patients and families, but to other staff members. One special moment was when an elderly came in after an attempted suicide. The patient was unstable and on a vent with many drips. The patient's son was very distraught and blameful of himself. After getting the patient stabilized, Charlene arranged for the son to see his father and explain some things before he went into the room. She hugged the gentleman and it seemed to be just what he needed...someone there during this hard time. She provided him with her cell # and told him that he could call at any time during the night for an update & that she would call him at 7 am to give him a general update. After this the son felt comfortable enough to go home. It is extraordinary to find a nurse with this much compassion, and Charlene surpasses what is expected.
