Charlene Simmermacher, BSN, RN

Charlene is a NICU charge nurse who is constantly going out of her way to help everyone and anyone. Recently, we had a long-term patient pass away. Charlene was thankfully charge that day. Charlene was at the bedside to help the staff from the second the patient started to deteriorate. Additionally, she saw the mother suffering and grieving when she left the room sobbing. Charlene followed the mother out of the baby's room and held her on the floor of the bathroom as they grieved together. Charlene was also there for the staff nurses that day too, she ensured the nurse got to pump since she recently had a baby as well. Charlene was selfless and demonstrated our 'love me' service standard to a degree I did not know was possible. We are lucky to have Charlene on our team and as a charge nurse. The nurses and that mom couldn't have made it through that day without Charlene. She is the epitome of 'love me' and AdventHealth is blessed to have her on the team.
