January 2023 Honoree
Charlene Spreadborough, RN
When my son was admitted with psychosis, Charlene went above and beyond in the compassion she showed him and me. When others around him were scared and/or judgmental, she responded to him as a very sick child. At the time, my son had a respiratory infection and was very congested. Because of his psychosis, he ended up covering Charlene in his mucus. I cannot imagine anything more repulsive, but Charlene took it in her stride and continued to care for him as she would any poorly child. My son remains in the hospital 8 days after our encounter with Charlene and we have experienced care from indifferent to outstanding, but Charlene touched my heart and I will be forever grateful to her for seeing my beloved son behind the bizarre and frightening behavior
Thank you, Charlene, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
