Charlie's nomination was submitted by four patients. Their nominations read in part: I was fortunate enough to have Charlie as my attending nurse during the weekend. Charles's genuine concern for my comfort, pain level, healing, and ever-changing medical condition was evident throughout the weekend. He always gave me my meds in a prompt and timely manner, he always discussed what he thought was the best option for me at the given moment in regards to the pain levels, and offered up some old school remedies for my dry and itchy skin, hot neck, etc. I so appreciated Charlie taking the time out of his busy Saturday to participate in our own version of PT by walking around the nurses' station and by the gym and then back to my room so I could get some exercise. Charlie was attentive and took the time to listen to me. He didn't just ask me if I had pain, he asked me to describe my pain. I wish every medical practitioner listened as well as Charlie and added patient concerns to his own abilities and expertise to provide the best care. He is professional and understands patients' needs in terms of the level of pain. Very warm and compassionate. He was very helpful and informative with me and always went the extra mile to take care of me.
