I am an employee of MNMC, working in the ED as a CM. I found myself on the other side, whereas, I became the concerned family member and my Dad was the critical patient. He was admitted through the ED in respiratory failure, admitted to the second floor, then onto the ICU, then CCU, and finally to the third floor where he was placed on comfort care, dying right before midnight just two weeks later.

Overall, the nurses, staff, and doctors along his medical journey were great; however, there was one nurse that was exceptional - Charles (Charlie) Goe. He provided my Dad with such compassion, gentleness, dignity, and respect when he was most vulnerable; and I will never forget that. My family and I firmly believe Charlie was specifically placed with my Dad to assist him in a peaceful passing. Charlie answered all questions and concerns, helping me and my family process what was happening. It was Charlie who made an impactful difference in my Dad's care and me and my family.
