His dedication, passion, and compassion have left a lasting impact on me.
When I first met Dr. Molsbee, I’ll admit—I was intimidated. His presence in the classroom commanded attention, his expectations were high, and he never accepted less than our best. He came off as “hardcore,” the type of instructor who didn’t sugarcoat anything. But as the semester went on, it became clear that beneath that tough exterior was an instructor who genuinely cared—deeply—for every single one of his students.
Dr. Molsbee pushes his students because he sees our potential, even when we don’t see it ourselves. He challenges us not to memorize, but to understand—not just to pass exams, but to be safe, competent, and compassionate nurses. His “tough love” approach comes from a place of genuine concern for our future patients and our success as professionals. Behind the serious face, he’s the instructor who stays late after class to explain difficult concepts, checks in after clinical days to make sure we’re okay, lets us sit and cry in the hall with him when we're struggling, and celebrates our wins—big or small—with pride in his eyes.
He reminds us that nursing isn’t easy, but it’s worth it—and that we are worth the effort he puts into teaching us. His dedication, passion, and compassion have left a lasting impact on me. He may come across as tough, but to those who’ve been lucky enough to be his student, we know he’s got one of the biggest hearts in nursing education.
