People were coming and going. I felt so anxious and I was thinking the worst. Charlie quickly saw how I was feeling. She saw me tearing up.
I went into the Emergency Room after waking up with chest pain. I was greeted by Charlie warmly; she drew my blood and sat me down for an EKG. This I fully expected as I was an RN at another hospital and figured it was nothing terribly serious. Very routine. I thought it would be something benign.

Long story short, my EKG showed that I was having a heart attack. All these years of being on the other side and here I was as the patient. Even though I knew what was going on and what was going to happen, I was so scared. Maybe even more scared because I precisely knew what this meant. As all this hustle and bustle was going on, doctors and whatnot were in and out of the room. People were coming and going. I felt so anxious and I was thinking the worst. Charlie quickly saw how I was feeling. She saw me tearing up. This I will never forget as long as I live: I remember her kneeling down beside me and looking me in the eye as well as placing her hand on mine. She told me that everything was being done for me and I would be taken care of. I remember the slight squeeze she gave my hand as she was talking to me. I could feel that she really cared and what she did was far more to her than a position, it was a calling.
