I arrived in my room and I was warmly greeted by Charlina, my Nurse. Charlina embraced me with the warmest smile and sweetest disposition. That was enough to calm my fears within me. My role was now changed. I was the patient and not the one providing care. Charlina made my night comfortable. From updating her whiteboard to updating me on my plan of care, she was meticulous and detailed. Yet she maintained a smile, humor, warmth, and "listened" attentively to my concerns.
Charlina and I managed to strike up a conversation about The DAISY Award. She mentioned, " I have been a DAISY nominee 3 times." Me, just recently being a DAISY Honoree, thought, "It would be nice to see someone as hard-working and dedicated as Charlina become a DAISY Honoree. In my book, she already is. I've been observing her blossom throughout the time she has been here and she surely blooms in all endeavors.
