As I cried, she kept everything calm, cool, and as if this is a routine everyone has done a million times.
My positive experience was largely thanks to the exceptional care provided by Charlotte. Here are some reasons why I feel that her care was so impressive:
Intuitive Patient Advocate: Throughout the entire process, I truly felt empowered and understood by Charlotte. At one point, she cleared the room of extra people before I even realized that I wanted this to occur. I could not have been more grateful that she read my mind and asked them to give us our space in that moment. Furthermore, I expressed how concerned I was to get an epidural due to a past negative experience, and she ensured the best possible anesthesiologist was there to take care of me. She listened to all of my specific concerns and aimed to offset each one in advance. She genuinely cared that I was comfortable and in a positive mental space throughout the whole process.
Proactive: When labor was stalling because of the baby’s positioning, she had me hold very targeted poses to encourage the baby to turn and drop. It worked! I had no idea it was even possible to move in such ways once an epidural was placed. It made for a labor that felt very “active” even though I was comfortable which was unique and memorable.
Bedside Manner: Aside from her expertise, Charlotte was professional, friendly and so caring. It felt like we were teammates, and I will always remember her as an important part of the day my baby was born. I am so grateful and thankful that we were placed under her care on such a significant and vulnerable day.

We had a known high-risk pregnancy and scheduled induction - what we were not prepared for was a 44-hour labor ending in an emergency C-section. We had the pleasure of being with Charlotte for TWO of her shifts including her 7 pm shift change in the midst of when my emergency C-section started and Charlotte didn’t miss a beat. She was aware of our situation and how quite frankly terrified I was since being with us 12 hours the night prior. She jumped right in and started to do everything to calm me down and get me ready for what was about to happen and reassured me I was in the best hands and they are doing this because it was best for me and the baby - as I cried, she kept everything calm, cool, and as if this is a routine everyone has done a million times. She oversaw all of the recovery and even made sure that she took pictures of our baby for us since we weren’t going to get to see him until we got to the other hospital where he was transferred. Throughout the two shifts with her, Charlotte was so positive and acted as if she had known us for years. I can’t speak more highly of her and the care we received.
