Dr. Holland exemplifies the very best of nursing leadership through compassion, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to Veterans and the teams who care for them. One nominator described her as “a leader whose compassion strengthens teams and ensures Veterans receive care with dignity and respect.”
As Chief Nurse of Home and Community-Based Care at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System, Dr. Holland has created an environment where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow. Those who work alongside her describe a leader who recognizes the strengths of others, invests in their development, and leads with both accountability and heart.
Her impact extends far beyond the walls of our facilities. Through her leadership, H&CBC services have expanded, improving access for Veterans and allowing more individuals to remain safely in their homes with dignity and independence. Her work supporting Veterans living with ALS reflects her deep commitment to compassionate, Veteran-centered care. By collaborating with nursing, physicians, and community care leaders, she helped strengthen care pathways and improve access to specialized home health services for Veterans and families facing extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
Dr. Holland also leads with strength during times of challenge. During organizational change and stressful critical incidents affecting staff, she remained calm, accessible, and focused on supporting both patient care and workforce well-being. Her leadership reminded staff they were not alone and that their well-being mattered.
A proud United States Army Veteran with 20 years of military service, Dr. Holland continues to embody service, excellence, and dedication in every aspect of her leadership.
