She did everything with excellence and always with a smile on her face.
I wanted to write a shout-out for our whole experience while at Scottish Rite CHOA, but also to one nurse who was a blessing and made a special difference to me, my family, and my son during our hospital stay. She was our nurse for the first two-day shifts of our stay, and during the time when my son was hurting the most and was also very scared. This nurse went out of her way to make sure he was comfortable and all his needs, as well as mine, were taken care of during her 12-hour shifts. She did everything with excellence and always with a smile on her face. My 16-year-old 6'5" son was probably the biggest patient they had on that floor, but she made sure he knew what to expect and explained everything so he knew exactly what was going on. This nurse even visited him to check on him when she returned later that week, even though he was not her patient. I have been an RN for 27 years. This nurse's care embodies what our profession is all about. Delivering our best and serving with care that promotes healing. I am thankful for this nurse and the whole Scottish Rite team for being there for my son and my whole family during a week that seemed like an eternity. I pray for the families that don't get to go home or even have longer stays. This experience has forever changed me as a mom and a nurse. My son would also like to extend his gratitude to this nurse and the entire team for helping him feel better. He is now at home continuing to recover and is thankful that he is feeling better.
