I had a life-threatening situation unfold rapidly while in recovery. It was late on a Friday night, and everyone was motivated to discharge me. I was experiencing intense back and chest pain, and I communicated this to Charlotte. Everyone else was saying it is just the pain from the surgery, and it is ok to discharge. I was struggling to breathe and begged Charlotte to help me. She immediately recognized the symptoms from her experience with life flight. She had the skills, knowledge, command, and courage to take control and administer the treatment I needed to save my life, as I had a collapsed lung. I am forever grateful to Charlotte and feel blessed she was my recovery nurse.
