Charmaine goes well beyond her role on our team and takes on all of the challenges (big and small) that don’t fit neatly into anyone else’s typical job description.
Since Charmaine joined our team, she has made special connections with patients and families and has significantly made a difference in the lives of multiple patients. Charmaine serves as a role model for her profession and clearly demonstrates the PRIDE values of UCSF. She embodies ‘going the extra mile’ in her role with the Pediatric Nephrology team. Charmaine is skilled and thoughtful in her work, and we are lucky to have her. Her natural warmth and professionalism lend herself to quickly build rapport and trust with the diverse patients we serve. The value that Charmaine has added to our team is impossible to measure! I can think of no one else more deserving of this award. Charmaine has been a valuable resource for non-English speaking patients and has helped us provide better care for complex patients needing the extra help to navigate the health care system. She has gone above and beyond her duties to make sure our patients get the best care. In conclusion, Charmaine epitomizes the nurse qualities promoted by UCSF Magnet status and the PRIDE values of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Her unwavering dedication to the patients, families and staff at the UCSF Pediatric Nephrology Division are incomparable.
