Chase was able to advocate for the patient to assist with treatment during her ED stay.
Chase is a phenomenal nurse. He is attentive to patient care, exhibits an excellent bedside manner, and is eager to learn as an emergency room nurse. I routinely have compliments from patients, family members, and peers regarding the care he provides to his patients and his co-workers. This recent compliment provided to Chase is an example of his dedication to our Sentara Commitments:

Unfortunately, my husband needed to be seen urgently and from the second we arrived; your staff was Amazing. Specifically, Chase. The folks answering the call the light were quick to respond, there was no waiting for anything. My husband never had to ask for pain meds as Chase was very attentive and managed his pain superbly. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated everything your staff did for us. Your team clearly demonstrated outstanding teamwork, as Chase became busy with one of his other patients, his teammates were quick to cover for him and were in the room checking on my husband. No amount of thank you’s will be enough, but I hope this note is a good start.

Another example of Chase providing excellent customer service. A patient came to the ER and had an upsetting experience with one of the providers. After the manager and patient advocate discussed the concern with the patient, the patient was transferred to another area of the ED. Chase took over nursing care for this patient. The patient was incredibly pleased with the care received from Chase. The patient explained that Chase sat with her for an extended period of time to talk about the events and explained what happened and why. She felt so much better after talking with Chase and realized that the provider was trying to do what was best for her. Chase was able to advocate for the patient to assist with treatment during her ED stay.

Chase is valued by his peers as well. He has a questioning attitude and is eager to learn. He has recently begun precepting in the ED and working with nursing students and new graduate hires. Chase is available to assist in other departments and frequently receives WOWs for his attention to detail and patient advocacy.
