He treats his patients with a level of care that is truly above and beyond. He was so good at explaining everything to her and making her feel safe and comforted.
I currently work at St.Thomas as a travel Cardiac Sonographer. My sister came to Nashville to celebrate New Years Eve with me when she became very sick and had to be rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU. I see everyday just how wonderful the staff are at St.Thomas but I got to see a whole new perspective of the incredible care once my sister became a patient. She had so many wonderful nurses and caregivers throughout her stay. There was one nurse in particular who was so very special to us. Chase Henderson is the best nurse I have met not only at St Thomas but at all of the hospitals I have worked at. I have worked alongside him multiple times during my time here at St. Thomas and was always so impressed with him and how he cared for his patients, it always stood out to me. When he became my sister’s nurse I was able to see his care as a nurse from a totally different perspective. He treats his patients with a level of care that is truly above and beyond. He was so good at explaining everything to her and making her feel safe and comforted. His sense of calm and kindness helped my sister during such a scary situation. She looked forward to seeing him everyday and would always light up when she found out he would be her nurse. I felt so comforted knowing that my sister was truly in the best hands whenever I could not be there with her. Chase is an extraordinary nurse who is so deserving of the DAISY Award. We can never thank him enough for everything he did for my sister.

My girlfriend had a severe case of lobar pneumonia, landing us in the ICU for 5 days. When we first were admitted to the ICU, Chase was our nurse for the first few days. He was always on top of everything, whether that be helping her get everything unplugged to go to the bathroom, or getting her more water. Specifically for me, Chase was a huge help. I am currently a first year dental student. Me and my girlfriend had visited her sister in Nashville with plans on going out for New Year's Eve, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Our 4th day in the ICU, I was scheduled to take an exam in person, back at school in Baltimore. My school is not lenient with letting students make-up exams, even in a situation like the one I was in. I explained my situation to Chase, and he wrote a detailed letter explaining everything to my school, informing them on the severity of my girlfriend's condition. Because of this, I was able to make-up the exam. If it had not been for Chase's act of generosity, I would have missed the exam and possibly failed the course. Chase will always hold a special spot in my girlfriend's and my heart.
