Three days after my surgery I was in excruciating pain to the point I looked up from my bed, took her hand, and said I give up. As a former Marine accepting that defeat crushed my soul. Still holding my hand Chelsea looked at me in the eye and smiled and said, "I won't let you quit." She got me my meds and made sure she spent the time to ensure I indeed did not quit. I started to feel better with each second and I even walked 2 miles on the floor that day. Because on THAT day Chelsea saved my life. Surgeons repaired me, but Chelsea saved my life. She went well over and beyond what was required of her that day for a total stranger. She was caring, and compassionate enough to live by the nurse's ethics and ensure this patient not only survived but survived the trials and tribulations to follow. Thank you, Chelsea, for being the angel, the kind voice, the deliverer from the pain, and my nurse who did not let me quit.
