Chelsea provides expert care to her patients and at the same time, she comforts parents by showing them that their babies are in great hands.
My baby boy was discharged this past Saturday and I didn’t get a chance to fill out the form where you recognize a staff member who deserves it. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to do it, so this is the reason for my email. I hope and pray that whoever needs to read it to praise and recognize this nurse gets to read it. The nurse I would like to recognize for her dedication and passion for the job of being a nursery nurse is Chelsea. I can honestly say that my baby boy L and my husband and I were blessed to have her taking care of our baby while he was in the special care unit. It is evident that Chelsea does her job not only with passion but with LOVE! L was 3 days in the special care unit, and Chelsea was so attentive and so loving with him and all the babies who were under her care. As a mom, I think that the support you receive from nurses during your stay at the hospital before, during, and after giving birth is essential. Chelsea provides expert care to her patients and at the same time, she comforts parents by showing them that their babies are in great hands. Having my baby away due to him requiring phototherapy and observations was already difficult for me, but knowing that Chelsea was taking care of him brought peace to my heart.
Every time I would go to breastfeed him or just to be with him, Chelsea was extremely busy taking care of the babies and making them feel loved. She was always talking to them with such a sweet voice and love as if each one of those babies were hers and as if each one of them was listening and understanding what she was saying.
Every time we had a question she was always available to answer them, even if she was extremely busy doing her job. She would also call me every time L was awake and ready to eat, as I requested. My husband and I had several questions about circumcision and she took the time to answer and explain each question we had and the process.
When L finally got discharged, she took the time to come to our room just in time before we left, to say bye and to hold him one last time. Her happiness to see our baby going home was so sweet! I’m pretty sure that based on her sweet personality and love for her job and for each baby she takes care of, she receives many recognitions from parents, but I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude for making L and I feel special and loved. I don’t think many people have the gift of being a NICU nurse and going above and beyond doing her job for 12 hrs, working night shifts, and having the energy to take care of her patients in a special way like Chelsea does during the entire shift. My family and I will always remember her and she will always be in our prayers so that God can continue to give her the strength, energy, and love to touch the lives of many people who have their babies at Methodist Charlton, just like she touched our hearts during our stay there.
Thank you for hiring nurses with true vocations and expertise like Chelsea! The world needs more like her! We thank you Chelsea from the bottom of our hearts for everything you did for us and for all the love you gave our baby. We greatly appreciate your service and your vocation! Your dedication and expertise are truly beautiful! THANK YOU!
