I can't say enough about the personal attention we received from her.
She was especially caring as she treated my 92-year-old mom. She took time to listen and respond. She made us feel like friends rather than just a clinical patient. I felt like she really cared about my mom. This nurse represents the hospital's mission statement well. She is the primary reason that I tell people that Mom had excellent care at RiverBend.
Examples of her going "above and beyond" for my mom: She evidently heard my mom say what she would order for breakfast when she could finally be released to a regular diet. When that order came through, she remembered what Mom had said and called the kitchen to order Mom's desire without Mom having to make a request. Such a nice surprise for Mom. During the time Mom was NPO, she kept talking about how anxious she was for coffee. Just as soon as that order was changed, she brought Mom a hot cup of coffee before she asked for it. On the morning of discharge, the Hospital Doctor came to Mom's room very early. She told him that I had been with Mom most of the time and she expected me soon. She then requested that he return and speak with me personally before discharge, which he did.
I can't say enough about the personal attention we received from her. She is certainly deserving of this DAISY Award recognition. Thank you!!
