Chelsea was a calm and capable anchor for him in this time. She was as attentive and responsive as could be, and when I was finally brought back to sit with my husband, she explained to me how things had been going and what to expect.
My husband had surgery to address a nasty post-appendix-rupture infection. He went into it scared and in a lot of pain, and came out of it with all the standard post-anesthesia effects and a large incision he wasn't expecting (the nature of the surgery changed once they started.) His time in the PACU was a little rough, including the doctor having to be called for some surprise drainage. Chelsea was a calm and capable anchor for him in this time. She was as attentive and responsive as could be, and when I was finally brought back to sit with my husband, she explained to me how things had been going and what to expect. I very much appreciated her professionalism and bedside manner because she was calm so he was calm. Chelsea stayed late with us, keeping our area of PACU quiet and restful until the shift change upstairs was complete so that she could convey all the details of his case to the nurses upstairs before he was sent up. We were very grateful that Chelsea made this transition as smooth as possible. We met a lot of great nurses at ascension seton hays, but we will definitely remember Chelsea for a long time.
