I trusted her. I knew she knew what she was doing that whole day.
My forearm and wrist area were in terrible pain because of the tight brace that was put on me after my stent. Of course, the brace was intended to keep my artery from bleeding out until the wound clotted. It was so painful and I was afraid because my hand was turning black and blue but this nurse first calmed me down by showing me that I had a pulse above the splint so my hand wasn't going to fall off or go gangrene after all. She told me she could only let the air out of this vise my wrist was in, a little at a time. And she did that. She let out a little, then came back, let out a little more and I think the second time she let air out I could take it. It was now just uncomfortable. I trusted her. I knew she knew what she was doing that whole day.

Of course, this was not all that she did. This nurse attended to me for everything. She never complained when I called her, whether it was to button the shoulder of my gown or to bring me a sandwich because I hadn't eaten in 15 hours and dinner was still hours away. And when she came in my room and saw that I was crying, crying because I am not used to being helpless, she was there to console me.

I am 68 years old and have been in the hospital for 3 childbirths, a hysterectomy, and 2 stents and although many of the nurses I had were good nurses, this nurse is a really, really good nurse. You are lucky to have her. Please treat her well.
