Chelsea quickly put the wheels in motion to help our little patient get to go trick or treating.
I am nominating Chelsea for going above and beyond for one of our littlest patients. It was Halloween, we had one Pediatric patient and since he was a patient in the hospital, it didn't look like trick or treating was going to happen for the little guy.
Insert Chelsea and her amazing heart. Chelsea quickly put the wheels in motion to help our little patient get to go trick or treating. Chelsea made some calls for her significant other to bring candy and a bucket so we could give this little peds patient the 3 East trick or treating experience!
We spoke with the patient's mother and she was thrilled and arranged for his Halloween costume to be brought in for him to wear. He was Spiderman! All the staff participated and stood around the unit and handed our little spiderman candy!
The mother asked us to get pictures when he was done, and he got enough candy that will last him until next Halloween. I can't say and express enough how being a part of that small act of pure kindness made my day as I'm sure it did everyone else.
The best part about this story is...this Pediatric patient was NOT Chelsea's patient. She was out of staff as a superuser for EPIC and was busy helping everyone on the unit with the new computer system. Chelsea went above and beyond to show a patient that just because you are in the hospital doesn't mean that you aren't a part of our 3 East family.
Thank you, Chelsea, for being an inspiration to all of us. You truly are without a doubt an Extraordinary Nurse. Thank you for your continued kindness for every patient that you care for...big or small.
