Chelsea provided care to a patient who had suffered a devastating injury and lost the use of her legs. Chelsea spent hours with the patient throughout the weeks she was her nurse, washing and helping to comb huge mats of mud out of her hair and braiding it for her to help her feel better about herself. She kept her spirits up by helping her to send silly pictures back and forth with her friends. She provided emotional support to the patient and her family and did everything in her power to assist the patient to be as independent as possible in spite of her injury. Chelsea truly went above and beyond in every sense of the word to make what could have been an absolutely horrible time in this patient's life into a positive experience where she remained in good spirits and continued to smile and laugh in spite of the challenges she was going through. As a coworker, I am proud to work with someone like Chelsea who truly loves her job and shows up every day with a positive attitude to provide the absolute best care to her patients. Chelsea was the angel this patient needed to get through a hard time, and I truly feel that she changed this patient's life for the better through the care she provided to her and her family.
