In the past 2.5 weeks, I have had to have multiple surgeries. Because I know personally Chelsey's care for her patients, and her being the nurse in surgery for several of my family members, I had asked, if possible, if she would be the nurse in my surgery as well. During my first surgery, which was routine, Chelsey took the time to answer questions in advance. She was one of the first people to show up with a reassuring smile and kept my loved ones up to date after the procedure took place. An unexpected surgery took place a week later when I started hemorrhaging. Chelsey was on backup call but came to the ER to assist, and ultimately had to scrub in for another surgery. I was beyond scared and didn't know what was going to happen. Chelsey was the calm in the midst of the storm. She was not only reassuring but also made it feel like no matter what happens, I am in good hands, and we will figure it out. She went above and beyond in my care with checkups after each surgery. While this instance speaks for me, she did the same for other members of my family who have all had surgery, and Chelsey was the surgical nurse. Chelsey is a highly requested nurse. This is because not only is she very good at her job, but you feel a certain sense of peace when she is taking care of you. Not many people in their life can say, 'this is what I was born to do,' but Chelsey truly is. Chelsey pours her heart and soul into her job and the people she cares for. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award.
