July 2026 Honoree
Cherline Edmond, RN
Words can't describe what a bright light Cherline was during a very difficult hospital stay for my husband. Suffering from a chronic headache disorder, a recent back surgery, and currently in the hospital with a broken and shattered leg, which required surgery and placement of external fixation, he was having a really rough time not only with the physical pain but also with the mental strain this put on him.
While I'm sure Cherline could've been doing a million other things, she graciously took the time to stay with my husband during a very rough patch mentally, talked him through it, made him feel valued, not crazy, made him feel cared for, not pushed to the side. She got him the help he needed without leaving his side.
As if that isn't enough, at the end of her shift she came back in to check on him and talk to him. Her compassion and caring will never be forgotten.
Cherline's passion for her difficult job as a nurse is outstanding, and she is a true asset to Lee Memorial Hospital. Not only does she deserve all the awards, but she also needs to be recognized and somehow rewarded for her exceptional skills, passion for her job, and her overflowing heart.
Forever grateful.
