My son was inpatient for one week due to dehydration and dysphagia. We met Cheryl later in our stay that week. She was very personable, and you could tell she really cares about her patients and their family. True passion for what she does clearly shines through like no other RN I've ever come into contact with. We laughed a lot together which made a stressful week so much easier to get through. She taught me great tips and was very patient with me trying to learn my son's new NG tube lifestyle.
She went above and beyond in everything she did. She was the only nurse we had who had my son's bedding refreshed. She went and tracked down answers to all my questions and kept me informed on all the info we needed. She also made sure we were well taken care of for our 2+ hour drive back home. She thought of everything, so my son was comfortable on the way home.
I've been in and out of numerous hospitals with my kids for twenty years and I've never had the bond I had with Cheryl. She is truly one of a kind. Her communication is like no other. She was on top of everything. I never had to track her down, despite her being extremely busy with other patients. I hope with any future stays, we are lucky to get Cheryl as our RN each time.
Cheryl ended up being more like family than our son's RN.
