March 2012 Honoree
cheryl holthusen, RN
Cheryl Holthusen, RN, ADN is the recent winner of The DAISY Award at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. Her Award was announced in a surprise ceremony on March 22.
Surrounded by friends and, co-workers, Hulthusen accepted her reward with customary grace and modesty. She stated: “I don’t do anything special but I feel honored to be a recipient of this wonderful award.”
Cheryl teaches our Total Joint Class for patients having surgery. She has taken ownership of this program and added her personal touches to make the patients feel special and cared for. Cheryl make time to visit each of these patients to check on them whether she is working or not (she would come in on her day off). Patients have reported that her visits and kind gesture has made them feel more prepared for the procedures and future test. Physicians noted faster recovery with these patients as well.
She is truly an Extraordinary Nurse!
