I would like to nominate Cheryl Keyes for the DAISY Award. Cheryl is an extraordinary person and clinician. She is a highly-skilled, experienced, extremely knowledgeable, and compassionate team player who constantly displays and promotes highest pride in her nursing profession. She effectively demonstrates a positive role model and is a collaborative interdisciplinary team player. She has demonstrated a high level of professionalism, humanism, communication, and interpersonal skills in so many hard cases that we have encountered. Her knowledge and experience in conjunction with clinical practice have proven that she is an efficient nurse and very proficient. She has been a mentor for our nurses in achieving the patient’s comfort. She has received so many compliments during the many years that she has dedicated to VNA/Barnabas, but I wanted to point out one that I liked the most. We received a donation today in response to our Hospice Lights of Light mailing in memory of William F. O’Toole. The note said, “In thanks for your great care of my father in his final days and especially his nurse, Cheryl. Keep up the great work. You are an enormous help”.
