Yesterday Cheryl and I went to the home of one of our patients to try and get him to go to the hospital. For the past four years, this patient has refused help of any kind. Cheryl has been the only one who has been able to reach him. In the 16 years, I have worked as a social worker, I have never worked with a more dedicated, compassionate, and caring nurse than Cheryl. Yesterday this patient had reached rock bottom...Cheryl showed her extraordinary dedication in reaching this patient by going to the most extreme circumstances with uncompromising compassion and care. No matter what stood in the way, Cheryl carried on to reach the patient and gained the patient's trust to accept the much-needed treatment at the hospital. In my opinion, she is a credit and honor to her profession and a true DAISY Nurse.
