I just wanted to take a moment to send some kudos. Nurses very often get more complaints than compliments. I think it's important to thank nurses when they are fabulous. Yesterday, while trying to get a patient down to IR for a procedure, I had the pleasure of working with Cheryl. Cheryl was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable; she knew everything about her patient and what they needed. She educated me on an upcoming change to the blood administration policy. She even took the time to help walk me through where she got that information.
We worked together to find out the appropriate blood administration for our mutual patient. Because of this, we were able to facilitate getting the patient's procedure done quickly, efficiently, and safely. I have never had such a pleasant and fulfilling experience with a floor or float nurse before. I am very impressed with her knowledge base and willingness to take the time to make sure we were doing the right and safe thing for our patient.
