Cheryl was my nurse on my second day of being admitted to the ED following an anaphylactic reaction the day before. After receiving five doses of epinephrine and being uneasy and anxious for what was to come, Cheryl was my rock. She was able to relate to me and told me that she had experienced the same thing before, validating my feelings. When I was crying and scared, she came in and immediately knew how to comfort and center me. She talked me through taking deep breaths, her compassion for her patients, and her job shining through.

Talking with Cheryl about books, my future as a nurse, our dogs, and life was the perfect distraction while I was having a reaction. Cheryl is the epitome of a nurse worthy of a DAISY, as she already has two nominations. As I was leaving, Cheryl left her mark on me with the words she left me with. Her support and confidence in me and my healing journey set me off on the right foot. I truly am so blessed to have had her as my nurse for this one day. As a patient who is a future nurse aspiring to work at the same hospital one day, I hope I am lucky enough to work with Cheryl.
