November 2023 Honoree
Cheryl Ortman, RN
Cheryl provided phenomenal nursing care to a recent patient who has a history of psychiatric illnesses. Cheryl treated the patient like she would a family member. She sat and listened to the patient. She helped make the patient feel safe during her shift. She calmed her down quickly and provided an easy transition for the next shift. The second night, the patient was found to have lice. She also had knots in her hair. Cheryl took the time to not only comb her hair free of knots but also comb it twice after lice treatment to remove nits. Cheryl also provided emotional support to a mom in emotional distress after hearing the news of losing custody of her child.
Thank you, Cheryl, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
