I would like to nominate my coworker for a DAISY Award because of the extraordinary compassion, commitment, and humanity they demonstrated in one of the most meaningful moments a patient could experience. A few weeks ago, we were caring for a patient with a complex emotional situation. She was 36 weeks pregnant, undergoing an induction, and facing tremendous uncertainty. In the midst of navigating her medical needs, she shared with us something deeply personal: she and her partner wanted to get married before their baby arrived. It was something important to their hearts and their story, but they didn't know how to make it happen from a hospital room. Without hesitation, R and Cheryl stepped in with a kind of compassion that goes beyond a job description. R cared for their baby in the NICU and built a relationship rooted in trust, gentleness, and genuine care.
Cheryl stepped up to the plate with her background in wedding planning. She provided candles from her personal supply, she came up with the genius decision to hold the ceremony in our courtyard, and was able to get a bouquet and a cake! Not only did they provide clinical excellence, but they also helped provide hope, connection, and a life- changing memory a family will never forget. Their acts of kindness will live forever in this family's story and in ours. This is what the DAISY Award is about. This is exceptional nursing. This is compassion in action.

Thank you, Cheryl, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
