A big thank you to the Central WA Emergency Department for their ongoing compassionate care and concern for a 17-year-old autistic patient who was in the Emergency Department for 23 consecutive days while doctors and senior leaders worked tirelessly to find special placement for this patient. Staff had 24/7 constant hands-on care, keeping this patient safe, entertained, and cared for. This was a very different task as the Emergency Department is always busy, which also caused this patient great anxiety, along with our caregivers concerned about his well-being. It was truly impressive watching this team.
