Diemo sees the whole picture and is respectful
I want to take a very special moment to recognize my preceptor Chi Thi Diem Ho. She is in effect, my nurse. I have been a nurse since 1996 and had also gotten a chance to see many nurses in action from inside and out.
Diemo is not only a caring and entirely empathetic person and caregiver, but she is willing to take the long road. She wants to make sure I am taught correctly enabling me to go over things in detail, so I don't rush through and misunderstand.
Diemo spent the better part of two hours with a patient who was confused with extra respect and instead of offering medication. The patient felt heard, cared for, and respected. He calmed, quieted, and fell asleep, instead of screaming, yelling, and keeping fellow patients awake.
Diemo sees the whole picture and is respectful of other points of view. She is a listening ear to other nurses. She is a DAISY Nurse during stressful and confusing times. She helps us cope with uncertainty.
