China was able to establish a rapport with a patient family member by listening, reassuring and taking the initiative to understand their needs. Ms. Clay worked with speech therapy and neuropsychology in order to educate and demonstrate a needed procedure.
I perceive that this was an example of a very superior intervention by a gifted nurse in an extremely difficult situation.
This also showed clinical excellence and advocacy for both the patient and their family member. Ms. Clay connected with the family member and made a difference and demonstrated consistency by collaborating with the care team and developing a trusting relationship with the family member.
