I am honored to nominate my colleague for the DAISY Award. She embodies nursing excellence through her clinical expertise and her unwavering commitment to the human side of healthcare. As one of our most experienced nurses, she is a cornerstone of our unit, consistently stepping in to assist with patient care whenever the workload becomes heavy. Her impact was recently on full display when we treated a patient receiving a wound vac for the first time.
The patient arrived with significant anxiety and was in a great deal of pain. My colleague stepped in with extraordinary patience and provided thorough education to both the patient and their family. Her calm demeanor and kindness immediately lowered the tension in the room, making the patient feel significantly better and more at ease with the procedure. Beyond her clinical skill, she acts as a natural mentor: I have learned so much from watching her handle complex situations with a steady hand. She doesn’t just do her job-she elevates the entire team and ensures that every patient feels safe, heard, and cared for. She truly represents the heart of nursing.
